I agree that Winamp can be considered as a true reference audio player. It's loaded with options and features and there's hundreds of skins out there to customize it.
I still think that it can't beat the iTunes interface in terms of simplicity and user friendliness. Add to that inside integration to the iTunes music store for a one click shopping experience. Also, I believe the iTunes visualizer more than equals the Winamp one. And last but not least iTunes is free, whereas for Winamp you only get the basic version for free.
